A few weeks ago, one of my husband's colleagues sat in our kitchen laughing and joking around. He played with my little boy and gave my husband a test spin in his new Ford Fusion. Two evenings ago, while playing ice hockey, he suffered a massive heart attack and died. Only 40 years old, he left behind a devastated wife and eight year old little girl. Why am I telling you this? Because I think there are some lessons to be learned from this experience.
- Your life is precious and it's a gift that is given to you everyday. Be grateful even during the tough times.
- Your health is not something to ignore. Even if you feel fine, regular check ups are essential. Our friend had 90% blockage in one artery and 95% blockage in another. I can't help but wonder what a routine check up and blood work might have revealed to save this man's life.
- Know what your family history of disease is. So many health problems we experience are hereditary. Find out what you may be predisposed to and take precautions to prevent future health problems. For instance, my son has diabetes on both sides of his family. I am constantly reminding him to take it easy on the sugar because of his family history. Diabetes is hereditary and he has two strikes against him.
- Make sure your family is properly insured. We never like to think about things like this happening to us, but it is a very real possibility. Be prepared with plenty of life and disability insurance.
- Do you have a will? If something were to happen, who will take care of your children? Where will your assets go? If your finances are tight, there are do-it-yourself programs for creating your own will.
- Whenever you lose someone close to you, especially at the very young age of 40, it always makes you stop and think about whether you are taking good care of your own health. We have far too much education available to us regarding health risks to ignore it. Eat healthy, exercise, use alcohol and caffeine in moderation, stop smoking and minimize stress. You are only given one body - take care of it, for yourself and for your family.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for your input. Please tell families where those products can be found. I recently reviewed some products that had no toxins, but they were so outrageously expensive, that I could not afford to buy them for my family. I have been using their sample kitchen cleaner they sent me, but it costs like $7-9 per bottle. Most of us, especially during these times, cannot afford cleaning supplies that cost that much money.

Hi Lori,
Your so correct about people taking the time to look at their own health. So many of us, especially moms, take care of the kids, the husband, the amimals and everyone else, but not ourselves! I tell women all the time that we need to take care of ourselves! You have alot of valid information, but
please don't leave out the importance of ridding our homes from the many deadly toxins we bring into it every day in the
form of cleaning supplies, air refresheners, hair spray,
furniture polish, personal care items, lotions, makeup, etc.
Here is the problem: There are little to no regulations in the US as to what manufacturers are allowed to put into our
products. Other countries have much stricter regulations.
I'll give you an example: European countries banned the
manufacturers of Febreeze due to the unsafe toxins used in the product. The company specially reformulated the product, took out the toxins and are now selling the re-vamped version to them. Guess what we are still bringing into our homes here in the US. You guessed it, the original formulation!! Canada
has had a ban on Johnson's Baby products for years because
of the known toxins in their products. Why is the US giving
samples of it to us when we bring our babies home from the
hospital? Why are they still selling it here? Most people think that if it's being sold to us, it must be safe. This is so not true. Manufacturers use the cheapest preservatives they can find (most of which are highly toxic to our bodies) in our products to make higher profits for their companies. Please be aware that if you cannot eat something, you should not be putting it on your skin!! If you put something on your skin, a high percentage of it is being absorbed directly into your bloodstream! The clothes we wear which have been laundered in detergent full of deadly chemicals are leaching toxins into our bodies through our skin throughout the day.
Think about it, how mahy hours do we, and our ever more sensitive children, spend sleeping on sheets and covered in blankets washed in these toxins? Those chemicals are coming into our bodies even as we sleep. Anything we inhale, or smell
also goes directly into our bloodstream. At least if we eat
something that has toxins and preservatives in it, our bodies can break down a percentage of those toxins and send them to
the liver. But, if we put them directly onto our skin, or
inhale them, there is nothing our bodies can do. It has been determined that stay-at-home moms have an extremely higher risk of getting cancer than mom's who work outside of the home due to the fact that all those chemicals in our cleaning supplies are leaching out into the air they breath, and they spend most of their time in the home. Did you ever notice walking down the isle of the cleaning supplies in the market, the strong smell of the products. That's because the outgases are leaching out into the air.
Do you not wonder why cancer is the #2 killer of all children
under the age of 10? Think about how much more susceptable a small child is to these toxins they are exposed to, starting
in the womb. The #1 killer of children is poisoning. If I were to tell you that there is a company out there that puts the consumer's safety BEFORE profits, makes over 300 safer,
non-toxic products for the home, is environmentally safe, a
child can drink any one of their cleaners and not die, has
products made from natural enzymes that actually work better than all those toxic chemicals we're now using, AND these products cost less money, would you want to know? I know I was extremely grateful to have found this on-line company based out of Idaho.
Please, for the sake of your family, and especially your children, rid your homes of these deadly products. Every little bit you take out helps! Our bodies are being bombarded with all these chemicals. We need to say no to the manufacturers of these products. We need to insist on safer,
healthier products for our families.
to know about it. Well, it exists, and the company mission
statement is: "Enhancing the lives of those we Touch", not
"Let's make as much money as we can, regardless of the risk to the public"
